Production Notes: This production should have been pretty straight forward. No on camera talent, just one location and only some VFX to consider in post. The simple ones sometimes get complicated. I got the call a week out from our shoot date. An executive at the production company was demanding we sign a hold harmless agreement. If not, the shoot would be canceled. No risk adverse brand, agency or client I know would ever sign one of these death warrants. They were concerned about showing other brand devices in situation without prior permission. I assured him all devices would be altered, used in a complementary context, framed using wide angles, etc. Even offered to further disguise with color variation or alt casings. He was adamant. It took a phone call to trusted partner in that same organization to defuse the situation. Sometimes it’s about who you know.
